MyBB Source

I tried about everything and found that a lot of it is dependent on what the forum is actually for. The one that works best for any type of forum is mybb. SMF always gives me problems that are extremely hard and difficult to fix so I will probably never use it again.

Phpbb 3 is a piece of trash in my opinion. I was a big time phpbb 2 fan and started using it (big modification additions too) at age 14 or so.

Vbulletin current is annoying and outdated. 4 should fix that, as long as they revamped their admin panel. Otherwise it will still bother me even with the outside looking nice.

IPB the newest is quite amazing, and I highly enjoy forums I am on that use it. I've done a little internally for sites I became staff on, then eventually they fell apart due to crazy drama.

Vanilla is unfinished.

Analectron or whatever it's called is nice and feels a bit more complete to me. But I wouldn't use it as a fun every day forum.

To be honest, vB is better for larger companies.

MyBB is better for a smaller site.

vB is WAY to expensive.

I mainly use MyBB, I have used PHPBB before though.

mybb is so much cleaner than vb right now. New version it might not be, but I think that the new version is more aimed at social networking than business.

I think the main reason that most people like vbulletin for large companies is because of the obsession with an outdated and overrated theme. Just my two cents though.

I've used phpBB but I wanted something more cool.

I have tried phpBB, but hated it. I love MyBB and will stick with it!
