i just don't get the point of what instant messenger is this? some already in internet or a new one just to your forum...

I'm sorry to bring back an old thread and whatnot. But this plugin kind of scares me as a security vulnerability.

Could someone not just make a script to spam attack someone? I mean what happens if you're suddenly hit with almost a thousand "instant messages"? wouldn't your browser just up and die everytime you visited the site? wouldn't that also just knock your server offline as a ddos attack?

I also don't like how it makes that tab the active tab. that's annoying if I'm reading something and every two seconds am drawn away from it. Messages from sites should not interfere with normal web browsing.

There's no log, on a serious note I have no idea if someone is attacking another member on my forum or not with this, unlike the pm system where i can look at pm's that are logged. It also stops all activity on the site for that member and they MUST click "reply" or "cancel". I don't know about you but when I'm trying to browse the site it's annoying to me if every two seconds someone is messaging me. It'd be even better if you just had a notificication in the header that's blinking saying "you have a new im!" that when i click on it THEN the box shows up. this way my browsing isn't interfered with.

yes, adding a disabled feature to this would be great. I know this rather basic, but it just seems to vulnerable to me.

The problem is, that's quite a large job to add all those features. I don't really think this plugin is under active development either.

I think you shouldn't make it a pop you should make it on a toolbar like in facebook

Actually yes I read it it didn't show up and I think Zufu is right.
