So, here it is. The first release of the MyVids free edition (aka BETA). The package contains the full plugin as it stands as well as some rudimentary documentation. As this is still a work in progress, I'd love to hear feedback from all who install it. Hopefully this feedback will be good, but we'll see!

Everything you need to run MyVids is in the package - apart from a list of supported embed sites and video formats. These are below.

Supported Embed Sites

• Youtube
• Vimeo
• Dailymotion
  

(The gold version will support more embed sites)

Supported upload formats

• MP4
• flv
  

(Again, the gold version will support more formats)

Features

• Video file uplaods
• Video embeds from Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion (and more)
• AJAX commenting on videos (comment while the video plays)
• AJAX comment paging (again, so video playback isn't interrupted)
• SEO URLs for videos (enable via the CP)
• MyCode support in video descriptions/comments
• Category support
• Rudimentary image support (easily adapt the video system to create an image system)
• Multiple plugin hooks in key places to allow the development of further extensions (eg: NewPoints plugin?)
  

Please note that there is one known bug which arises only in Internet Explorer 9 (and in MyBB 1.6.2 - it may be fixed thanks to MyBB 1.6.3) whereby the quick login doesn;t work in the view video page due to a JS conflict. This only happens to IE9 though.

Hi Euantor.

I have installed the plug-in and can edit all the options and such.

How do I or anyone access the myvids section? I see no icon at the top.

Sorry if its a daft questions, I am sure I am over looking something here.

Simply go to http://the-chess-forum.com/myvids.php It doesn't automatically add a link in this version as many people don't use the default theme

I have had this installed for a while, but, today I finally got round to adding a few video and have now shared the link with my forum.

I have made a icon and added it to my header and I edited my .htacess file to enable seo friendly url's (Great feature that) Both where quite easy and was quicker than I expected.

So far I have loads of praise for this great plugin. I intend to pay for the full version, not that I need it, the free version works great, but I feel the developer should be supported.

Not found any major bugs, just editing the category didn't work, I had to delete it and create a new category (not a problem)

Ps (update) It would be great if you was to add category tabs to the main page of your plugin. maybe even allow searching of a particular category or all the categories.

Thanks for the kind words BigOliver. I don't know why category editing didn't work - I'll have to look into it.

As for your category suggestion, that's already a part of the full version as well as a few other little additions like that. The full version isn't paid as such - it costs the virtual MyBBSource currency (MyBux) which you collect simply by posting here So long as you have 6 MyBux, you can get it once it's released.
