In order to help deter spam accounts, we have made two changes.

First, we have installed the StopForumSpam plugin. Secondly, from now on, only premium members will be able to use a signature.


On a side note, we have also updated to MyBB 1.6.1 and I have also updated our archives to reflect the change.

Hmm, that's a bit steep (I think) - what about a minimum posts that is on the high side? Like over 50. I'm a helpful member - I liked having a sig. I see where you are coming from re the sigspammers, its just a bit.....awwww.

I believe it's fair. I don't plan on changing my mind any time soon on it. For now, if you want a signature, go premium. I may, in the future, add signature privileges from the store, but not currently.

Good stuff Nickman - hopefully this should help cut down the waves of spammers early.

That reminds me though - I need to update to 1.6.1 too.

I noticed there was a bug in this, when I tried to register I was reported as a "known spammer" I used my personal email now I had to create a fake email in order to join.

What was the email you tried? I's likely it was in the stopforumspam database for some reason.
