What parts needs updating, no expert in mybb mods but you sound like as if changing the version number won't be enough

I think you need to change/update hooks and rewrite some parts of code to make it work with the latest version.

That's going to be a lot of visits to http://community.mybb.com then haha.
It'll be a complete disaster but I'll try anyways.

I was too interested if it would be changing "1.4.*" to "*," or more.
