Hey.

So I'm making my first plugin, and everything seems to be going well at the moment. I followed a tutorial from here and got the basics up and running (e.g, settings and activation deactivation yaddah yaddah). But now I'm have some trouble with some other things.

Problem 1:
When I go to make my thing echo something on to the index_start part, it comes up at the very top above the container. How do I make it go just above the navigation? (Like colourful announcements.)

Problem 2:
When I try give that echo a class, e.g pm_alert it doesn't seem to work and give me an error. How do I fix this? Or even if possible, make it ad it's own class.

Problem 3:
Using the settings; how can I pull a random thread from the specified FID?

I've never made a plugin before but I think I can answer this. Make it replace the entire index_start template with your plugin wherever you want. (It's confusing to explain.)
