w3 errors
Just need to get explained something..
How to fix an error that looks like this..

It is at my MyBB forum..

Quote:# Error Line 121, Column 56: document type does not allow element "td" here

… align="center" valign="top" width="1"><img src="uploads/ficons/1272224933_adv…

The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed).

One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error).

RE: w3 errors
W3c validation doesn't matter - honestly. It has no effect on search engine rankings or anything. So long as your site renders correctly in most browsers, you're fine.

W3C errors are not important, seriously. As Euantor said, as long your site works perfectly, there is no need for you to worry. W3C is "important" only when you're selling the theme and if the theme is W3C validated, its easier to sell it (thats just my opinion)

@Svizy: even then, it doesn't matter. Sometimes, depending how it's done, Javascript is classed as being invalid and the base of MyBB isn't totally valid either I believe.

Then I don't get it...Why do W3C standards even exsist if they are not actually good for anything? With exception of bragging that you have a W3C validated website

The standards are kind of a guideline for browsers - they're there to tell a browser how something should be rendered and how a page should look. The validators are useful for designers though so that you can quickly debug and validate your work with little to no effort. Following the advice given never hurts either - correctly validated pages usually load faster as it's easier for a browser to validate them.
