o.O vBulletin can be quite daunting - but it's the features I love it for. That's why I use it on my primary site. Still <3 MyBB though because of the community being so epic.

SMF, phpBB2, phpBB3.

I hate them all

SMF is just terrible. I tried using it, but I threw up. phpBB3 is hard to customize and has extremely hard to manage permissions. phpBB2 is "yuck".

SMF is way better than PHP though. but not better than MyBB

PHPBB i hate it, not user friendly. And if your now a web master there is no chance on improving it by adding hacks ect.

I hate phpbb. It's stupid how many people use such a crummy script. Icebb is also very terrible because of it's lack of coders now and numerous bugs that need to be fixed. One of it's biggest problems is that it uses tinymce default for an editor. 0.o For now at least. I am working on the next version as we speak. And it's going to be nice. As long as I can finish it.

You would think that because phpbb has been runing so long that they would make mods/hacks more user friendly. I have so many clients asking me to install mods/hacks. At the moment we don't do that for our customers, but I might look for some staff to do it and charge for it or might even provide for free.

MyBB has alot of good hacks/mods. Nickman, Labrocca and all the other plugin makers should be part of the MyBB team (Nickman already is ) with their plugins, MyBB has become the #6 best forums software according to Xmarks

Honestly, vBulletin is the worst for me, mostly because of cost, it costs SOOO much money, when you can get everything for free. Also, AEF is getting there, its been forever since it has been updated.

PHPBB: Hate it's lack of customization options (not as simple to edit themes, like on MyBB), hate the permissions!, hard to install mods, and that's about it...

SMF: Don't care for the default theme, love the easy mod & theme installs, and I think there's fewer mods for it than MyBB

MyBB: Well, it's only downside is... well nothing

and not even tried installing vBulletin before

SMF has more mods than MyBB.
