[idea]Openwebware Wysiwyg integration
Actually it's quite easy, shouldn't need beta, and will most likely be release later today. I thought I would mention what I was doing though. I am trying to integrate openwebwares wysiwyg with mybb. It's actually really simple if I wanted to completely override the default editor. However, I didn't want to do this the easy way. Soooo instead of just completely overriding the current editors I want to add it as a switch to the usable editors.

That might take a little more research.

Also, once finished with that I will move on to fck editor if I find it's worth it. I know there are a lot more themes for fck editor, and that it is more powerful. This means it might also be harder to integrate. Considering I am working on actually integrating ajax im into mybb (future mod to look forward to) I should be able to handle that though.

if you have any pointers since this will be my first released mod for mybb, please let me know. I've actually never made a mod file for mybb that appears in the mybb plugins area, so that will take some research as well. I've merely modified files and database on my own forums without the use of it in the past.

Wouldnt this make the forum take alot longer to load on older computers and other browsers?

I have allways wanted a WYSIWYG editor, and to be honest it should be a core file

It shouldn't unless you use a massive WYSIWYG script. I've gotten some done, especially in the format the plugin should be.

I did happen to think of another problem I was going to come across, but I won't know for sure till I get to that point. That would be the smilies. That might add time to it. Otherwise I would probably have it out tonight. If I work past my procrastination.

I'll let you know speed tests when I actually have it installed on my own forum. I highly doubt it will be that much of an increase though.

1. Why not. If your changing the default editor then change it all around.
2. Does this editor work with BBcode? I looked at its site and it seems that it doesn't.

Of two equivalent theories or explanations, all other things being equal, the simpler one is to be preferred.

1. I don't want to change the main editor. I am trying to let the choice for a wysiwyg editor appear under the selection for the current area to choose a theme.

2. I don't think it does, but then again neither would most. All bulletin boards bbcode is different. Somehow you have to grab the boards current bbcode, and add it to the editor.

I should be able to get the program to parse the bbcode on my own, and I think I might even be able to use the already built in parse from mybb to do so, or at least steel code from it to use in the plugin in my own parse.

Of course, as of now I am just about to die trying to figure this whole thing out. Writing my own scripts with my current knowledge is pretty difficult. Trying to use another scripts system with my stuff makes it even harder, without editing files especially. But if I don't work past it then I will never figure anything out.

RE: [idea]Openwebware Wysiwyg integration
Well, I can say so far as much as I can tell it's going well. The longest thing is actually learning to work alongside mybb's plugin system, which is amazingly cool but does require a learning curve. When I finished last night and tried to sleep I thought I only had a few more lines of code left, however after sleeping I realized a couple of things I needed to do a bit differently. The php coding is actually coming quite easily, and that is what I thought would be hardest for me seeing as every time I try to dig into it I just procrastinate and never finish anything. I did get quite a bit done, but it's a lot harder than I thought.

Hey bookworm. Nice to see you coming back to a good bb rather than phpbb 3. Yuck.. Lol That is until I finish the remake of phpbb 2. Then I probably wouldn't mind.
