Finally Mastered the Glossy effect
I found out I was doing everything backwards. This is really exciting for me now that I know how to do it.

Actually believe it or not, I used paint.net. Shouldn't be too hard to mimick in gimp though. Paint.net makes everything faster though. Not as powerful a program. It's free too.

Bah, it isn't that hard to make gloss in PDN, all you have to do is make a new layer, fill a section with white, and change the layer opacity.

I used to use PDN, now I use Gimp.

RE: Finally Mastered the Glossy effect
I use GIMP as well but I recently got Button Shop which is quite good with fancy effects

Thanks, Polarbear541

I use gimp to get effects and nice gradients but achually sometimes i used normal PAINT, it takes me 10x longer to do an image, but i do it like pixel by pixel I normally manage to finish them, but any big images i end up giving up xDDDD

Lol, no it isn't hard. When I do what you say to do though I only get a half good looking glossy effect. It never turned out quite right. This new method works a lot better.

Lol, and I thought I was the only one to use PDN.. :l
That's what I used to make my sigs.. >.>

But I know a guy on another forum who sorta 'overdoes' the gloss effect (He does it on about any image he makes)

I used to use PDN, still do sometimes. But using text on it is damn near impossible without having to redo it a bunch of times. :/
I use Photoshop now.
