I kinda have a side bar request pertaining to this mod.

I really like the idea of requiring a certain number of posts to view a private forum; however, I'd like to take it a step further. I'd like to require a certain number of posts per year to continue viewing this private forum.

Meaning, I don't want somebody to just fire out the minimum required number of posts to view a forum, then sit dormant for the next XX years. I'd like to require them to continue posting.

So say I require 50 posts to view a forum. You must post 50 posts per year to continue to be able to view this forum. If you Join on Jan 1, 2010 and post 50 times, you can view this particular forum because you met the minimum requirement. Come Jan 1, 2011 you need to have 100+ posts to continue viewing this private forum. And so on.

Please point me in the right direction if a mod like this already exists.

You could accomplish this with a combination of the permissions system and Group Subscriptions plugin.

Just make those forums available to members in a particular group. Without paying a monthly credit fee (forum currency) , they cannot access those forums. In order for them to continue to subscribe, they will need to earn credits by posting.

Thanks Gordie. I'm a little "green" with this whole MyBB, mods, plugins, etc. Just starting out. Not trying to be a pain, but could you please be a little more specific. This particular feature will be at the heart of my forum so I want to make sure I fully understand the setup and my options. Thank You. First you need to download and install MyPS
Next install the plugin for Group Subscriptions.
Now create a group (maybe named VIP or Subscribers, or whatever.)
Edit the forums that you want only this group to view. In the forum permissions, allow only the new group access to it.
This will force your members to subscribe to the new group ,using MyPS (points system for your forum). Inorder to remain in the group, they will need to pay a certain number of points each month. These points are earned by posting on your forum.

Sorry, but I'm a bit pressed for time. If it still isn't clear, please pm me and I'll give you a more comprehensive explanation of how to do it. Once you install MyPS and the Plugin for subscriptions, you'll get a clearer picture of what to do.

Makes good sense to me. I'll try to get these Mods going in the next day or two (never installed a mod before either, but I think I'm up to the challenge). Thanks very much for your time and help.

Just to know all my options, is there any other way I can accomplish this without intermixing 2 plugins and requiring points to be paid by members. I'm not saying that's a bad idea, rather just hoping for a little more simple solution. I don't know what the channels are to ask Nickman what it takes to modify a mod? or create a new one such as posts per month?/quarter?/year? to view this forum? Please advise.
