please get rid of it or at least some way to disable it

I don't really hate it.. but I don't think it's that bad.

I agree was never a fan of those things. But I'm a different theme anyway so didn't even know it was there till you said something.

Can you tell me what you don't like about it? I like it because anywhere I am on the page I can get to many different pages :)

Because it's superfluous and has no real purpose. It's a gimmick, it's a declaration of itself being a sidebar and adds no real functionality. The majority of the links in it are at the top of every page single page, rendering it useless. It seems like it was added simply because it could be added.

I didn't even realize there were multiple themes available. This is much better.

I loved this side menu which i better than the navigation on TOP on most of themes of MyBB 1.4 and MyBB 1.2.. Good Work again Nickman

I'm still of the opinion that they are useful, however I'm compromising :) If you go to http://mybbsource.com/forums/usercp.php?action=profile, you can turn the menu off :)

The side menù is a public plugin?
I'm interested... (I did not want to modify manually the template XD)
