It requires a lot of work, basically. MyBB and vB plugins are structured entirely differently.

What does the plugin do though - there could well be a viable alternative for MyBB already out there.

Yeah ... depending on what the plugin does, there is more than likely already a plugin for mybb that does the exact same thing (:
