Once you understand the basics of PHP/MySQL, you can easily create MyBB mods. MyBB is written in a way that plugin making is VERY simple for beginners to work with, as well as those who have more advanced knowledge. The key is though, don't release until you have an good understanding because whatever you release, you have to support.

If you have knowlege of PHP, try editing any plugin, and try to understand it
