I really don't like this idea, because if someone makes a plugin he should be able to release it however he likes, free, paid etc, etc because it's his work, not MyBB's...
And the second thing is... don't you think Labrocca and other plugin makers will stop making good plugins and focusing on basic plugins because they will be unable to earn anything?

That's my fear as well. However I don't see mybb altering anything too big in their license, people are over hyping the issue.

I agree Alex, I am worried over the future of our great PAID plugin makers. It does seem like what Andraz said and that is they wanted the mybb.com domain then stabbed one of the biggest donators in the back

Well, thats just my personal opinion. It does seem like it, just about a week after they got the domain they decide to make this change, why now?

I think they should

LEAVE OUR MyBB PLUGIN CREATORS ALONE! After all they did for us, made awesome plugins, allow us to add new features to our forum!!

Yes, but that basicly means that if you sell a GPL plugin/theme to someone he can modify it as he wants, he can remove copyright and also distribute it further (thats how I understand it). Same goes for free plugins/themes, but the themes are actually more problamatic since according to the video (again, this is how I interpretated it) you can do anything to it, like remove copyright (which is now a paid option) and you cannot be punished for it, which means that most of people will decide to remove the copyright, because you're not "forced" to keep it on your site.

Note: This is totally my personal opinion and this is how I understood the video which is mentioned in the thread linked in post I'm replying to.

If that's true, I will be most displeased >.> I'm about to take a look at the video for myself now though, so I may interpret it a little differently.

Okay, from a bit of a look just at Ryan's post, he says authors can choose their own licenses for their own work, but the myBB mods section will be free, GPL only.
