Made a mod.... Why not release?
Hi All / Nickman,

I happen to see the thread but got little late and it was closed before even I can post my opinion, so I thought to create another thread and give my opinion.

I really appreciate the efforts and ideas that Nickman applies for MyBB mods and plugins. Some of them are too simple yet great!

Why a mod allowing to execute a code from ACP should not be released?

I feel it will be a wonderful system. And this can be a beginning of era where plugin's can be updated easily. I would not call it as plugin or code, but I would name it as Pluglet. Its a simple code which does work as good as plugin (as far as I understand) and updating it will also be easy through ACP itself. However, I am not so sure about how secure it will be, but I trust Nickman enough to say that if he is planning to release it, then it will be secured.

Though few people might not find it useful at this moment, like the other many many mods around, what is harm in trying it? May be it can really turn up to be good and intuitive thing to use.

Phew!! What do you all have to say? Should we at least try out what Nickman has made??

I say YES. and You?

Well, I totally agree with you, but I'm little bit confused what this code/plugin/pluget does? Allows you to execute some codes from ACP, I get that, but what kind of codes? Like MySQL stuff or any other various codes? Please explain it to me

That is what we have to see when the mod gets released. As far as I understand, It allows all kind of code execution which one can do from plugin. Mainly it would like the code will be stored in table and when a hook is run, the code associated with that hook will be evaluated and executed then

This should be useful when you wish to change behaviour of existing code a little so as to tweak output.

Nickman only can put more light on it and let us know what exactly he has made and how can we put it to best use.

Ok, I kinda understand now. It allows you to execute various codes in some fancy way that I don't really understand (don't explain, I'm too dumb for such things), but if it allows you to do MySQL stuff as well, then I would use it for sure

I guess the reason I don't feel like releasing it is because it's more for advanced users, and I don't want people using it, putting in some bad PHP and getting errors and then blaming me.

I think it's best to keep it as just a custom plugin for me
