I prefer a dog to a cat, a little louder, a little bigger. But it's easier to train and doesn't bring dead rats to your front door.

my cat comes when i call, its kinda wierd, although i dont think i could train it to fetch my keys, im still a cat person, i think its because they dont need as much attention, but are happy to accept it

LOL I trained my cat to do the worst thing ever O_O Open doors HAHAHA i started to get mad at having to get up in the middle of the night to let her out... so... HAHA now she knows how to come in.

uh you dont have to teach a cat to open doors, they usually are smart enough to do so.. atleast my 3 cats can...
unless you mean turn the handle?, i had a dog that could open sliding doors before XD
