well if you want a free domain you can always use the offered sub-domain or make your own sub domain with co.cc

or

you can use a unique fowarding domain like dot.tk

Personally I use co.cc because its sea friendly and dot.tk won't show up on a seo rather the sub domain/domain you used to start the site

I prefer regular domains. They look more professional and it shows a webmaster's dedication to his/her site.

I used .tk when I first started my site, then as it got bigger I got paid hosting and a domain name. I'm glad I did, as it's much better.
