when i was running phpbb i embedded you tube vids in post as you do here on mybb source i ran into an issue with my hosts where the vids were using way too much resources on the server. They actually moved me to a test server for a week. since then i have not allowed embedding on my pages.

i switched to mybb a couple of months ago do you guys reckon ill run into a similar issue if i allow embedding again ?

I haven't had a problem with it. Do you allow guests and such to post TONS of videos? Or is it just every once in a while a video is posted?

I think thats a problem with your host. Bad configuration of servers.

I'd suggest purchasing more bandwidth if necessary. Or allow only 1 - 2 video embeds per post. I never had such a problem however.

I didn't have any problems either. I used to embed loads of video's each day. It is probably a host issue.

no not loads just a few on and off strange ... anyway im a bit reluctant to re try it... they lost my posts last time when they moved me ...

You can't request the db backup?

well it happened awhile ago ... it was nothing important i dont like people messing with my db + the admin who was in touch with me seemed like a clutz...so i didnt want him to try to patch the dbs. im 90% sure tho that it wasnt the youtube vids ... i made about 5 backups of the dB + root folder one after the other and im sure that caused the spike. It couldve been phpbb too idk ...
