The idea is simple really. Consider you have a type of contest, or want feedback on something, and you begin a new thread. The replies you get will follow one after another and regardless of the posts value it'd end up in whatever position it was posted in.

It'd be cool if you can give points to a post and the more points it had the higher it'd be in the thread.

In order for the option to come into effect there would be a checkbox when creating the thread (similar to the Poll option)... also the option to set a time limit.

If points were "tied" the newer post would appear to be higher up, although they'd still be tied.

As for the postbit display.. it'd show the number of positive votes you'd gotten, and the post # would represent your rank.

Other possibilities.. completely optional only to enhance the feature. Some better than others

ACP option to set the color of "Contest" threads...

Admin option to "show top rated 10(any #) submissions of particular contest". This would be set be viewing the thread and you'd have an option to "Show on index or show on forum display"...

A "recent contests" page that will display the latest contest threads.

A "contests ending soon" option, on the "recent contests" page.

A "winners" page that will display the top 3 finishers in the latest contests

A "My Contests" page that will show you threads you last participated in and your current rank / contest end date (if any) / contest start date / forum name / thread title.
